Deleting your account

This is a preliminary version. It replaces an earlier document that described things imai.ge does not do. It is accurate about how the Service works today, but some sections are still short of detail and none of it has been reviewed by a lawyer yet. A reviewed version will follow. Questions: support@imai.ge.
1. How to delete your account
Delete your account in the app. Open your account settings and scroll to the bottom, where you will find the delete account control.
That is the only route, and the reason is your protection: signing in is how we know the request is yours. An email asking us to delete an account does not tell us who sent it.
If you cannot sign in, write to privacy@imai.ge. We will need to establish that the account is yours before we can delete anything.
Cancel a store subscription first — see subscriptions are separate.
If you only want to remove some files or a character, you do not have to delete the whole account. See deleting individual content.
2. What happens immediately
The moment you confirm:
- You are signed out everywhere. Every session on every device ends at once, so the account cannot be used from a phone you left signed in.
- The account stops working. You cannot sign in to use it, generate anything, or reach your files.
- Nothing is erased yet. Everything the account holds is still there while the restoration window runs.
Your subscription is not affected — see subscriptions are separate.
3. The restoration window
You have 30 days to change your mind.
To get your account back, sign in again. Signing in during the 30 days cancels the deletion and switches the account back on with your files and characters, and any credits that have not expired in the meantime.
At the end of the 30 days the deletion goes through. From that point:
- signing in is refused — the account is gone, not locked;
- the erasure described in what is permanently deleted runs, and it cannot be undone;
- if you want to use imai.ge again you register from scratch as a new user.
We cannot restore an account after the 30 days, and we cannot recover anything that was in it. That includes what you paid for: a subscription or credits bought by the deleted account do not follow you to a new one — see the Terms of Service.
4. What is permanently deleted
When the 30 days are up, we erase everything held for your account: the photographs you uploaded, the characters trained from them, your prompts, the images and video you generated, your unused credits, and your name and email address. Files are swept from storage by account, so anything no record points at goes too.
None of this is recoverable. We do not keep a copy for ourselves, and support cannot get it back for you.
One exception. The model trained for a character has to sit with the company that applies it, and that company gives us no way to delete it — we can only ask. That copy stays locked to our own provider account, where no other user and no member of the public can reach it. The Privacy Policy explains it in full.
5. What we have to keep
Deleting an account does not let us throw away records the law requires us to hold. Three things survive.
Financial records — ten years
What you paid, when, in what currency, the VAT applied, the invoice, the reference the payment provider gave the transaction, and the record of credits granted and spent.
Tax law requires this. The clock runs from the end of the accounting year the transaction falls in, not from the day you deleted your account. Under the GDPR the right to erasure gives way to a legal obligation of this kind, and to the need to keep records while a payment can still be disputed.
A stripped-down account record
Those financial records have to belong to something, so the account row itself stays. Your name, display name and email address are removed from it and replaced with an internal reference.
This record is pseudonymised, not anonymous, and remains your personal data.
Child-safety evidence and a re-registration block
If an upload from your account matched known child sexual abuse material, the preserved evidence and the record of the incident are kept and are not removed with the rest of the account. Evidence is held apart from your account, so the sweep of your files does not reach it. While such a case is open, erasure of the whole account is paused rather than partly carried out.
Where an account was blocked for that reason, the block on registering again outlives the deletion. It is stored as a one-way fingerprint of the email address, not the address itself.
What your payment provider keeps
Payments run through the App Store, Google Play or Stripe, and each keeps its own transaction records under its own legal obligations. Deleting your imai.ge account does not delete theirs, and we cannot delete them on your behalf.
6. Subscriptions are separate
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. These are two different things held in two different places, and doing one does not do the other.
You cancel a subscription yourself, wherever you bought it. If you bought in the app, cancel it in the subscription settings on your device or in your store account. If you subscribed on the web, open the subscription from the plans page in your account and follow the link to the payment provider, where cancelling lives.
Do it before you delete your account. Deleting does not stop the billing: the subscription keeps charging for an account that no longer exists, and you cannot move it to a new one.
Cancelling stops future charges. It does not refund what has already been paid, and it does not take away credits you already hold. The Terms of Service set out what cancellation does to credits, and that a purchase stays with the account that made it.
7. Deleting individual files or characters
You do not have to delete your account to get rid of something in it. You can delete anything held for your account, one item at a time, from the app.
This is a smaller decision than deleting the account: your account, your credits and your subscription are untouched, and everything you did not delete stays where it is.
What you delete goes to Trash, and you can get it back. It stays there for 30 days, and you can restore it at any point in that time. Empty the Trash and it goes immediately; otherwise it is removed automatically after the 30 days.
Deleting a character removes the trained model too, by exactly the same route as deleting your whole account — including the one copy we cannot compel a provider to delete, which the Privacy Policy explains.
If what you actually want is to stop using imai.ge altogether, see how to delete your account.
8. Getting help
If the delete control in the app is missing or does not work, or you cannot sign in, write to privacy@imai.ge. We will need to establish that the account is yours before we can act — see how to delete your account.
For anything else about your account, write to support@imai.ge.
Your other data-protection rights, and how to complain to an authority, are in the Privacy Policy.
